Part II of Evolution!

Finally got the second of my two part series on evolution vs. intelligent design.  This time it's all about the SCIENCE that they both have.  Or, rather, one has and the other claims to have.  Scientific papers, people, evidence, and everything in between to dive deep into the controversy.  It's a long one, though, so bring some popcorn.  Or not, doesn't really matter.  Hope that you enjoy!

Great, now I want popcorn -.-

Om nom nom nom.....

So, as part of the great "fandom" portion of this totally awesome blog, I'm including some fandom of FOOD today.  Why?  Because food is delicious and always taunting us.... trying to get us to eat it all..... WHAT DOES IT WANT FROM US????  Hmmmm.... that went... well, somewhere.  Anyway, my birthday is next month and, as an early present a couple weeks ago, my awesome fiancee sent me to a cooking class at a local Sur la Table (or, as we like to call it, surly table).  Anyway, this particular one was entitled "easy dinners for the busy cook" perfect for graduate students stuck in the lab for 9+ hours in the day.

Yay I'm so awesome in my apron and hilarious shirt!  If I were any cooler.... I'd be a little cool.

Soba noodles with red pepper, green onion, and red pepper.  OMG SO NOM!!!!

Pan roasted pork chop with tomato pear chutney.  Not a big fan of the pears (never have been) but it was pretty awesome

Honey-dijon glazed salmon atop sauteed spinach.  By far the best thing of the night.  It was amazing.

Last, but not least, lemon basil chicken that we essentially poached in a large dish with cherry tomatoes and zucchini atop.  Not bad, but it was a bit too much lemon for my taste.
So there you have it.  It was a great night full of awesome food and general awesome-ness.  As a side note, a few days after this I tried doing the salmon at home.  Did not work nearly as well.  Stupid sticky non-stick pans.... *goes off to sulk*.... Oh well.  It was still pretty awesome.  Take care everyone!

Classroom Debate!

Time for my newest (and longest to date) video!  This is one I've been waiting awhile to do; talking about evolution and intelligent design in the classroom.  It's quite possibly the one issue within science education that genuinely makes my blood boil.  I don't understand why some people seem to have such difficulty with understanding the ID/creationist link.  Not to mention..... well, let's save it for the video, shall we?

As I mention within the vid, I'm working on a second part to this involving examining ID and evolution criticisms more closely.  Please watch and enjoy!

Ranting on Education

Dun da da dun!  Time for a new video!  This one is a ranting piece about a study done just over a year ago regarding the state of science education here in the US.  I hope that you learn something and enjoy!!

Please check out the links in the youtube description!  See how we can all help!

SCIENCE (is) number 1!

I've posted my first science video for all your viewing pleasure.  I was working with some dry ice Saturday and had some leftover so I decided it would be a good first step since you can do some cool stuff with it.  Enjoy.

Don't forget the quick bonus at the end of the video :D

First Video!

Huzzah for the first of (what is hopefully many) videos!!!  In this case, a gaming one, specifically some board games.  I'm already working on my next video (SCIENCE!) and hope that this one is enjoyable.  It is something that I really enjoy (co-op games) as it's something that my fiancee and I can really enjoy together, unlike, say, another game where one person (often me) wins.

Thank you co-op board games, for getting my fiancee and I closer :D .  And to the readers, thank you for stopping by.

First!!!

So, thus is the very first post of my new blog.  For it, I'll be sticking to a brief intro beyond my profile.  I'm Danny.  I'm living in Texas and working toward getting a PhD (currently in my 4th year) and know a little bit about a lot of things.  As for this blog here's what you should know: I'm going to try to make it primarily video based.  I think videos are much better than the written word, plus I plan on showing things throughout my time here on the interwebs.

From the name you can gather what this blog is all about.  Gaming (be it talking about new ones, old ones, reviews mostly, and spread between board games and video games), Fandoms (a lot of the big things now, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, anime, movies, yadda yadda etc etc.), and SCIENCE!!!!  Oh great and wonderful science.  Through this blog, I hope to share some of my knowledge of scientific principles as well as the importance of science education and funding, hence the videos.  It's hard to show science without videos.

As for the gaming and fandom work, it will, by and VERY large, be retro reviews.  Mostly because I can't buy and play games/watch TV shows when they're released due to a lack of both personal funding and available free time.  Regardless, please enjoy once we're getting rolling!

Enjoy the threatened smashing of freezer defrosting snowman.

TL;DR I'm Danny.  Games rule, GO SCIENCE!!!!
